About Electrical Engineering

Electrical engineering, one of the core courses of engineering discipline deals with the study of design, development, and maintenance of electrical systems and their components, ensuring quality, safety, reliability, and sustainability. The course focuses on the manufacturing of electrical equipment used in a number of sectors including construction and building and the production and distribution of power. Students pursuing electrical engineering study about semiconductors and microprocessors. The undergraduate course will award a B.Tech / B.E. degree and the postgraduate course, an M.Tech.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

For UG : The candidate should have passed 10+2 examination from CBSE or any other equivalent examination board with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as core subjects. The candidates should also fulfil minimum qualifying marks in aggregate of the subjects.

For PG : For PG: The candidate should have a B.Tech degree with a minimum passing percentage in an aggregate of the subjects studied at the degree level.

SCOPE OF ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING

(i) Electrical engineering is rapidly growing not only within core areas such as wireless communications and mobile technologies but also in other cross-functioning areas including nanotechnology and biomedical engineering.

(ii) The world is moving towards the renewable source of energy including hydel, solar and wind power, and multi-national corporations are searching for power generation experts.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS

(i) Basic RequirementsTo be eligible for bachelor's degree course i.e. B.E. or engineering, colleges in other states grant admission based on marks scored in 12th Std. exam, particularly in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry and Maths. Diploma holders can also get direct admission into second year of engineering in the same stream in which they have completed their diploma

(ii) For a diploma in engineering, one must clear the 10th Std. board exam successfully with at least 50% marks. Various polytechnics offer diploma in various disciplines of engineering. There is also the Associate Membership Examination of the Institute of Engineers (AMIE), which enables working people in the private and public sector, or diploma holders to acquire a Bachelor's engineering degree through distance education.
